MCing

When I say Hip, you say Hop!! HIP...HOP...HIP...HOP! Have you ever noticed when a performer is on stage they can get the crowd more involved just by asking them to repeat what they say? That gesture is called the Master of Ceremonies (MCing), which most rappers, singers, and hosts often use. An "MC" is recognized as a term of distinction; referring to an artist with good performance skills and often associated for their presence on a stage with a microphone in hand.

The formal "master of ceremonies" term is rarely used in the hip-hop scene, but the shorter version MCing has been rooted and originates from the dance halls of Jamaica. There would be master of ceremonies who would introduce different musical acts and proposed toasts in a stylish rhyme directed at the audience. During the 1970s, this fresh style emerged in New York City and became a new style of music we all know as hip-hop. Today, hip-hop has become one of the biggest urban cultures, with MCing being one of the key elements. Rapper Rakim, who is regarded as one of the most skilled emcees of all time, quotes,"you see a part of me that you never seen, When Im fiendin' for a microphone, Im the microphone fiend." True Emcees, like Rakim, understand the art of Hip-hop and keep it alive through their music.
As always enjoy and stay FRESH !!!!
