Grizzlies Team-Up Mentoring

What do you believe in? Some may have different opinions on what they believe in or even who they believe in for that matter. Here in Memphis, the NBA Memphis Grizzlies believe in the possibility of greater things. That's why in 2007, the Team-Up Youth Mentoring initiative was launched to expand mentoring throughout the Greater Memphis area. Grizzlies Team-Up mentoring is a school-based mentoring program that pairs three volunteer mentors with nine students to form one team. The mentoring teams participate in weekly agendas that are chosen from the theme for that week. With on-site support from the Grizzlies Foundation staff, this is a very humbling experience. I was selected to participate in the 2012-2013 mentoring program and was elated to help the youth. This experience has opened my eyes to see that everyone deserves a better tomorrow. This program does just that by helping the youth become better than they were yesterday. Recently during one of our sessions, Grizzlies point guard Jerryd Bayless surprised the scholars with a visit. This was a wonderful session as the students eagerly raised their hand to ask questions about his life and the journey it took to make it to the NBA. People like Jerryd believes that this city deserves a change. The Team-Up Grizzlies mentoring does just that with their supportive help every week. Watch the video below on how the Grizzlies are inspiring our youth on and off the court. If you would like to know more about the Grizzlies Team-Up mentoring, visit here. As always, enjoy and stay FRESH!
