Memphis Grizzlies (Time to Grind)

Can you feel it? Not the fall breeze in the air, but the excitement of the 2013 NBA season. With this year's NBA season just weeks away the fans and players prepare as the world gets ready to cheer on their favorite team. In Memphis, there's a different kind of feeling going around as the Grizzlies come under new ownership from local talent. NFL quarterback Peyton Manning and his wife Ashley, former NBA player Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway and actor/singer Justin Timberlake are set to become minority owners of the Memphis Grizzlies franchise. Timberlake was born in Memphis, along with Hardaway, who also played collegiately at the University of Memphis. Peyton and Ashley Manning were married in Memphis in 2001, and Manning also played football for the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. If that's not star power, I don't know what is. Manning, Hardaway, and Timberlake are joined by a couple of Memphis businessmen to make up the minority supergroup that will co-own the team. The group also includes some other familiar names such as former congressman Harold Ford, Jr. and AutoZone founder J.R. "Pitt" Hyde. Robert Pera, owner of a California tech company, agreed to buy the Grizzlies from Michael Heisley in June for $350 million. The NBA is expected to seal the deal this month with the Memphis Grizzlies season opener set for October 31st against the LA Clippers. For all my NBA fans, and especially my fellow Grizzlies, get ready because it is time to grind!! Enjoy and stay FRESH!!
