As the cool air sneaks in for the fall season, the community comes closer to warm each others hearts. On this past Saturday, October 6th, I attended the 23rd Annual Fall Festival at Ed Rice Community Center. This was a great event for the community and there were activities for the whole family. It started with 5K walk followed by live music performances, information booths, health screenings, arts & crafts, food, games, and fun! The event focused on health as the Memphis Police Department and other Frayser community based organizations served a crowd of more than 600. According to Osie Lewis, Jr., Ed Rice Community Center director, "this is a great event I look forward to every year."This year the community along with City Councilman Lee Harris, state Rep. Larry Miller, state Sen. Jim Kyle and U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen honored Dr. William Byrnes for his philanthropic work in Frayser. Dr. Byrnes has done so many great things for the Frayser community they recognized him by naming a street in his honor. There are other great people like Dr. Byrnes that make our community a better place and in my book, that's FRESH! As we continue to break through the fall weather, remember to help one another and stay FRESH!!

Don't drink and drive to ensure a healthy life.
Good times for families and lots of fun.
