What's on your feet? Some people say there's no school like the old school. Well in this case, there's nothing like a classic. Most sneakerheads may know alot about sneakers, but you can't go forward unless you know where you've been. Founded in 1947 by Adolf Dassler, Adidas is a German sports clothing manufacturing and parent company of the Adidas Group, which consist of the Reebok sportswear company, Taylor Made (Adidas' golf company) and Rockport. The company's clothing and shoe designs typically feature three parallel bars, and is most famous for the original 1969 release of the Adidas Superstar, or "shell toe" style. Adidas classics like this have been around since the begginning of the hip-hop era and has made their way to fame on the feet of the legendary rap group, Run DMC. The trio was noted for wearing these classic superstars without any laces and pushing the tongue of the shoe out. They even wrote a song called "My Adidas" and it became their signature shoe. Run DMC signed a promotional deal with Adidas for one million dollars to follow, and it became the first endorsement deal between hip-hop artists and a major corporation. How cool is that to have the chart topping rap group promote your brand? Adidas kept a long lasting relationship with Run DMC and even released a 25th year anniversary shoe to pay homage to the legends of hip-hop. Today, you can find Adidas all over the world and they still turn heads just like they did in the 80's. It's one of my favorite brands and makes me feel like i'm wearing history right on my feet.
