Outfits for Outreach: An HIV/AIDS Awareness

Brand Name Clothing is collaborating with K’PreSha Boutique to present Outfits for Outreach, a clothing drive and watch party for BET's "Rip the Runway". Outfits for Outreach will benefit the Regional MED Center by collecting clothes from March 8th-20th for patients at the MED’s HIV/AIDS Clinic and ultimately benefiting the MED’s “Getting to Zero” campaign. “Getting to Zero” is a world AIDS campaign that strives to "advance global progress in achieving country set targets for universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support and to halt and reverse the spread of HIV and contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development goals by 2015” (http://www.unaids.org/en/aboutunaids/unaidsstrategygoalsby2015/) and achieve the vision of “Zero new HIV infections. Zero discrimination. Zero AIDS-related deaths.”

Through this drive, Brand Name hopes to increase the Memphis community’s awareness of the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in the Memphis and the surrounding area, share ways to prevent HIV/AIDS transmission and educate others about HIV/AIDS facts, statistics and prevention.

Brand Name will conclude the drive on March 20th with a watch party for Black Entertainment Television’s (BET) annual fashion and music show, “Rip the Runway,” which is filmed at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. “Rip the Runway” is in its sixth year, and has showcased designers such as Tracey Reese and Tennille White. This year’s show is hosted by Grammy Award winning artist Kelly Rowland and actor Boris Kodjoe.

Come hang with the Brand Name Crew for the “Rip the Runway” watch party on March 20th from 8-10 PM at K’PreSha Boutique, and support HIV/AIDS Awareness while supporting the African American fashion community. There will be food and fun. Admission is one item of new or gently used clothing. We hope to see you there! As always, enjoy and stay FRESH!!
