Small Business Saturday

Freedom to operate independently is a reward for small business owners around the world. The small business is defined as an independent business having fewer than 500 employees. Today, the small business plays a very important part in the economy, which represents 99.7 percent of all employer firms. That means that small businesses employ about half of U.S. workers. That's very impressive considering that small firms pay 44 percent of total U.S. private payroll. As a small business owner, I participated in "Small Business Saturday" promoted by American Express-- a shopping holiday held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to encourage holiday shoppers to patronize businesses that are small and local. Memphis's own K'Presha Boutique hosted this great event along with vendors such as Mi-Me Handmade Body Products, The Chic Urban Closet, Brown Sugar & Spice, JenUinely Chic, NLGM Clothing, Qiup, Arch Shoes, and Brand Name Clothing. This was truly a bonding experience between entrepreneurs in Memphis to share our passions and support each other. The small business is the heartbeat that pumps today's economy, so support local and shop small. Enjoy and stay FRESH!!
